Mcleod Ganj is a very popular spiritual destination in Dharamshala. In around mid 19th century a famous Tibitean Leader, Dalai Lama came here along with countless refugees and started with their rehabilitation here. It made the entire environment very lively and all the more holy. Therefore you can find lots of rehab centers and education centers for religious studies.
The St. John’s Church, located at a distance of about 9 kms, is also a must visited destination in Dharamshala. The best part about this church is that it is located in the midst of Deodar Forest between Mcleod Ganj and Forsyth Ganj. It is built as a dedication to Lord Elgin. He was a viceroy of India and dies in Mandi District.
Then you also have Bhagsunag Fall which is also not more than 12 kms from the main town. It is a well known place for its fresh water falls and old temple. It is easily reachable via roads.
Dharamkot is yet another destination for tourists in Dharamshala. It is very near to the main town. The highlight of this place is it location. It is located at the summit of a hill giving a very beautiful picturesque of the Kangra Valley.
Kangra Valley, considered as the most amazing valley in the entire Himachal Pradesh is also very easily reachable through Dharamshala. You can locate the orchards and pine forest along with gardens of green tea from the valley.
In addition to this you also have many other locations to make a visit to. War Memorial, Triund, Kunal Pathari, Kareri, Dal Lake and Naddi are few destinations which are easily reachable form Dharamshala.
